The long-awaited return of striker Romelu Lukaku could be what Inter coach Simone Inzaghi finally needs to relaunch his team’s Serie A title pursuit.

This is the view in today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who note how significant having the Belgian back could be for Inzaghi and the Nerazzurri.

Inter have not lived up to expectations that they would be among the main contenders for the Scudetto over the first part of the season.

The fact that Lukaku returned on loan from Chelsea over the summer was one of the main reasons for this expectation, and so therefore the fact that the 29-year-old has hardly had a kick due to injury has played a key role.

Lukaku’s fitness and injury struggles have been a source of major frustration for Inzaghi, but the coach is crossing his fingers that the Belgian will start to find his best form with his national team during the World Cup and then return to Inter in this manner for the rest of the season.
