The agent of Empoli defender Tommaso Baldanzi has revealed that his client has attracted interest from a host of clubs, with Inter thought to be amongst them.
The attacking midfielder has impressed for the Azzurri this season, with two goals from six appearances in Serie A, and has been linked with a switch to the Nerazzurri.
In an interview with Tuttomercatoweb.com, agent Andrea Pastorello claimed that whilst there had not been any formal offers for Baldanzi yet, he expected a big team to come in for the 19-year-old in the summer rather than in the January transfer window..
“To date we have not received any specific requests,” Pastorello said.
“We know that there are many important clubs, especially in Italy because abroad he is not yet so well known, but I don’t see a club investing in January and burdening the current budget with the weight of a transfer that they could do in the summer.”
The agent also praised Empoli’s approach to developing young talent, with current Inter loanee Kristjan Asllani cited as an example of a player given the opportunity to establish themselves before being sold to a bigger club for profit.
“We are in the ideal situation, Empoli give you the opportunity to play and that is why he has renewed his contract.
“But it is also a club that will sell you. We know perfectly well that they train young players and then sell them, in recent years there have been many examples, from (Mattia) Viti to Asllani, via (Samuele) Ricci,” he added.
Baldanzi, who is set to turn 20 in March, has spent his entire career with Empoli after coming through the academy, and was formerly an Italy U-17 international.
