Inter CEO Beppe Marotta feels that there is no question of the love that striker Romelu Lukaku has for the Nerazzurri.
Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia at the club’s Christmas party, via FCInterNews, the CEO also congratulated Argentine duo Lautaro Martinez and Joaquin Correa on winning the World Cup.
Lukaku’s time back at Inter has not gone according to plan so far this season, as injuries have restricted the impact that the Belgian could have on the pitch.
The very fact that the 29-year-old made the return to the Nerazzurri less than twelve months after a blockbuster move to Chelsea was itself remarkable, however.
It had always been the player’s desire to return that pushed through the improbable move into happening.
For Marotta, the feeling between Lukaku and Inter is never in question.
“He loves Inter, that’s been made abundantly clear to us from the time we’ve spent with him,” the CEO said of Lukaku’s connection with the club.
“He’s still grappling with a muscle injury, I think he’s fully recovered now though.”
“He needs to find his best condition again, but he has great motivation and we’re expecting him to be back at his best,” Marotta added of the striker.
Speaking of Argentina’s triumph at the World Cup in Qatar, Marotta said that “We’re very happy for Lautaro and Correa.”
“Winning the World Cup represents the most important possible victory in a player’s career.”
The CEO added that “We’re confident that Il Toro will get a boost from this, to show the San Siro and everywhere else all of his qualities.”
