Inter goalkeeper Andre Onana feels that he is right on track to get back to the Serie A season at his best.
Speaking to InterTV after the team’s friendly win over Sassuolo, via FCInterNews, the 26-year-old stressed that he is fully fit, and that he and his teammates are fired up for their Serie A match against league leaders Napoli next month.
Onana and Inter return to competitive action in just under a week.
It has been well over a month since the team last played in Serie A, so worried that rust will have set in are natural.
Moreover, Onana’s less than ideal experience at the World Cup in Qatar could well be a weight on the player mentally.
However, as far as the former Ajax keeper is concerned, the focus and fitness are both there.
Onana is anticipating the match against Napoli at the start of next month greatly.
“We’ve gained a lot of confidence during December, the important thing was for us to get playing time in our legs,” he said.
“At first it wasn’t easy for me to settle in,” he added, “but I have to thank my teammates, especially Handanovic and Cordaz.”
“Now I feel happy, I’m 100% here at Inter.”
And looking ahead to the match against Napoli, Onana said that “All of the matches from now until the end of the season will be decisive, we can’t wait for January 4.”
