Inter held a meeting with current Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone about the possibility of his arriving to replace Simeone Inzaghi if the current coach is sacked at the end of the season.
This according to Spanish news outlet Fichajes, who report that the Nerazzurri held an informal meeting with the current Colchoneros boss during the World Cup break, and that he could be brought in to replace Inzaghi in the event that the Nerazzurri fail to finish this season top four in Serie A.
Simeone’s future in the Spanish capital is very much up in the air, with reports suggesting that he is ready to finally leave Atletico after more than a decade in charge, and that he has told the club’s board as much.
The Argentine has been linked with Inter, and according to Fichajes, there was an informal meeting between he and the Nerazzurri during the World Cup break where the club made clear that their doors are not closed to him.
According to the Spanish outlet, the appointment of Simeone at Inter would likely only take place in the event that Inter were to decide to part ways with Inzaghi in the event that they fail to secure Champions League football for next season.
