Inter defender Stefan de Vrij feels that for now, news about his contract extension talks with the Nerazzurri will arrive in due course when there are important updates.
Speaking to Italian broadcaster RAI Radio, via FCInterNews, the Dutchman stressed that despite transfer rumours around him and the ongoing talks about a possible new deal with Inter, his focus remains on the pitch.
De Vrij’s current deal with Inter is set to expire at the end of June.
Reports have suggested that the Nerazzurri are very keen to extend the former Lazio and Feyenoord defender’s contract, and that they have already made their initial offer.
However, there are also reports that other clubs around Europe, particularly from La Liga, are keen on signing de Vrij on a free transfer as he considers his future.
For his part, the defender feels that this will all be dealt with in due course but that the most important thing is focusing on his football.
When it was pointed out that there are offers from Spanish clubs whilst the player’s agent has suggested that he would be happy to stay at Inter, de Vrij responded that “I have a very good relationship with the club, we’re talking about it.”
“When there;s news, you’ll all get updates.”
“I’m concentrated on my work,” he continued, “and then there are words from my agent.”
Of what the team’s goals are for the rest of the season, the 31-year-old said that “We can win the Coppa Italia, we have the Champions League.”
“I think the Scudetto will be very, very difficult,” he continued.
“We have to do better in the league and try to get more wins,” he added.
