Italian journalist Fabrizio Biasin believes that, in the event that Inter decide to part ways with coach Simone Inzaghi during the summer transfer window, Bologna’s Thiago Motta would be their first choice to replace him.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster SportItalia, via FCInter1908, Biasin explained that as far as he understands, the Nerazzurri are looking at Motta as the main possible target to replace Inzaghi should the 46-year-old be sacked.

Whilst Inzaghi’s job as Inter coach does not currently look to be under too much threat, there is a lot that can happen in the next few months, particularly in the event that the team miss out on the top four in the Serie A table.

If the club were to decide that the 46-year-old former Lazio coach is no longer the right man to be at the helm, Motta is very much on their radar according to Biasin.

“There’s no question that the coach needs to have a great run-in to the season to earn his future,” Biasin said.

“If he doesn’t the replacement has a name: Thiago Motta.”

“The club are fans of him, partly because appointing him would cost very little, they feel that he’s familiar with the environment, and they’re also fans of his footballing ideas and prospects in the game.”
