Inter midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan has been named as his team’s outstanding performer in  1-0 Coppa Italia semifinal second leg win over Juventus yesterday evening.

Today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who hail the 34-year-old for being “everywhere” in the midfield battle as the Nerazzurri dispatched the Bianconeri to reach the final of the Coppa Italia.

When Mkhitaryan arrived at Inter from Roma on a free transfer last summer, the Armenian international was regarded as a broadly competent squad player to bolster the Nerazzurri’s midfield ranks, essentially replacing Arturo Vidal in the team.

However, the expectation had not necessarily been that the midfielder, who has extensive experience playing with the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United, Borussia Dortmund, and Shakhtar Donetsk, would become a firm pillar of Inter’s starting eleven.

That is exactly what has happened over the season, however, as Mkhitaryan has shown an ability to glue the midfield together that has made it all but impossible for Simone Inzaghi to leave him out in the most important matches.

The Gazzetta declare that “he was everywhere” in reference to the 34-year-old’s performance.

Yesterday’s clash with Juventus was certainly one such match, with a place in the Coppa Italia final at stake and things delicately-poised following a 1-1 draw in the first leg of the tie.

Mkhitaryan showed exactly the qualities that have made him such a fixture in this Inter team under Inzaghi, as the former Giallorossi man’s industry and reliable technical quality were key to balancing the now first-choice trio with Hakan Calhanoglu and Nicolo Barella.

Whilst the Armenian had a well-taken effort on goal saved by Juventus keeper Mattia Perin, he didn’t need a goal for his display to be an excellent one.

The Gazzetta award Mkhitaryan with a 7/10 grade in the player ratings for the match, and the tag of man of the match.

Meanwhile, Barella, Francesco Aceerbi, and Federico Dimarco all received the same score, whilst Joaquin Correa was the only Inter player given less than a 6/10 grade, at 5.5/10.
