Inter Milan want to pay Bayern Munich a fee of around €4-4.5 million to sign goalkeeper Yann Sommer.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, who report that that is the number the Nerazzurri have for a fee to pay for the Swiss international, as they have no intention of paying his full release clause.

Bayern goalkeeper Sommer has a release clause in his deal worth around €6 million.

Given that the 34-year-old would be ready to join Inter, the Nerazzurri could likely wrap up a deal quickly by simply paying this amount.

However, Inter have not done so just yet.

The talks continue with Bayern, and Inter continue to hold out for a slightly lower fee.

According to Sky, Inter want to pay no more than €4.5 million for Sommer. Given the fact that the Swiss is 34 years old and would be a short-term option with little to no resale value, they aren’t keen to make a big investment in him.

Therefore, the talks could come down to whether or not Bayern are willing to sell Sommer for a somewhat discounted fee.

The Bavarians signed the 34-year-old from Borussia Monchengladbach just six months ago.

Inter Milan Still Working To Lower Fee For Yann Sommer

As the Nerazzurri continue to try to persuade Bayern to accept a lower bid for Sommer than his release clause, they are also already in Japan for their preseason tour without a starting-quality goalkeeper.

It is not clear who will start in goal for friendly matches against Al-Nassr and Paris Saint-Germain.

Inter could, however, still complete a deal in the next few days.

Bayern’s squad are also in Japan for their own preseason tour. Sommer could make the switch from one team to the other whilst in the country.

Also a key factor is whether Bayern can secure a replacement for the Swiss, and the fitness of Manuel Neuer.
