Inter Milan midfielders Nicolo Barella and Davide Frattesi and defender Alessandro Bastoni are set to start for Italy in this evening’s EURO 2024 qualifier vs Ukraine.

This according to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, via FCInterNews, who also report that Nerazzurri wingback Federico Dimarco will drop to the bench.

New Italy coach Luciano Spalletti will name his second ever competitive starting eleven for the Azzurri this evening.

The 64-year-old’s first match in charge was a disappointing 1-1 draw against North Macedonia. Naturally, Spalletti and Italy will be anxious to get back on track with a win over Ukraine in their second EURO 2024 qualifier of the international break.

And according to Mediaset, Spalletti has a clear idea of which players will start for the Azzurri.

And, as with against North Macedonia, there will be three Inter players at the heart of the Italy lineup.

Barella, Frattesi & Bastoni To Start For Italy Vs Ukraine

Against North Macedonia, Inter midfielder Barella as well as defender Bastoni and wingback Dimarco had started.

According to Mediaset, Barella and Bastoni will keep their places.

Both Inter players look as though they’ll be fixtures for the Azzurri under Spalletti. In midfield, Barella will be the main box-to-box player, whilst Bastoni will be the defender around whom the former Napoli coach bases the team’s buildup play.

But on the left, Mediaset anticipates that Fiorentina captain Cristiano Biraghi will start.

This means there will be no place for Nerazzurri wingback Dimarco in the eleven. Therefore, the 25-year-old will drop to the bench.

But Inter midielder Frattesi will start, Mediaset anticipates.

The 23-year-old had not been in the starting eleven against North Macedonia. It had instead been Newcastle United’s Sandro Tonali to start that match.

But against Ukraine, both box-to-box players in the trio will be Inter players. Barella and Frattesi will both start, Mediaset predicts.
