Gazzetta dello Sport gives the latest news regarding the possibility of Javier Zanetti joining Jose Mourinho at Chelsea. Following a report from Sky yesterday suggesting that former Inter boss Mourinho has targeted the Nerazzurri captain for a role at Stamford Bridge. Gazzetta believes that much will depend on talks between the player and Erick Thohir. If Inter reach the Europa League there could be space for Zanetti in Walter Mazzarri’s squad. The Inter legend is currently being left out for technical reasons as he’s fully recovered from the injury which sidelined him for seven months last year. At Chelsea it’s believed that Mourinho will offer him a duel role as both a player and within the organistation as a sports director. What is not in doubt is that if Inter choose not to retain him Zanetti could well head to London and begin work with Mourinho and the Blues.

Thohir is an interista, he said that himself, of course he respects and knows the importance of Zanetti. I think the real problem is Mazzarri. Does Zanetti want to spend the last months of his career not playing at all? Talk to Thohir and have him slap Mazzarri for being a dick.
Zanetti isnt going anywhere BUT Thohir must respect him as a Captain, Legend, and Symbol of Inter and give him a position in Inter HQ. If Thohir fails to do so Zanetti will move on and should move on but Interisti and the Inter Ultras will go to war before we let Thohir fuck this up . Forza Capitano #4
This doesn’t make sense to me which is why it may happen. I hope Thorir gives him a position in the offices, and if not, a learning under The Special One isn’t so bad, then return to Inter.

Zanetti won’t play in Chelsea anymore than he will in Inter if he stays on as a player for another season. Perhaps they will suggest retirement to him and he will take it.
