Nerazzurri captain Lautaro Martinez saw his brilliant 2025 come to a screeching halt in yesterday’s Serie A clash between Fiorentina and Inter Milan.
The player ratings for the match across Italian media gave the Argentine lacklustre scores, as highlighted by TuttoMercatoWeb.
Inter captain Lautaro Martinez has seemed to be making up for lost time at the start of January.
Having endured a real goal drought over the first half of the season, the 27-year-old had been scoring freely throughout January.
Getting the talismanic captain back on the scoresheet like that was exactly what Inter needed.

But against Fiorentina, Martinez’s performance looked far more like the indifferent displays that he’d been turning in throughout the autumn.
Within a few minutes of kickoff, the Inter captain did show a few positive signs.
Martinez stung the palms of Fiorentina keeper David De Gea with an accurate and powerful shot from range.
But after that, there was little of note from the Nerazzurri captain.
Martinez’s movement was not incisive or explosive enough around the penalty area. He could not get the better of Fiorentina centre-backs Luca Ranieri and Marin Pongracic.
Then, when Lautaro Martinez attempted to drop deep or drift wide to get involved in play, there was little real impact.
Why one shot…. Too much back passes from the wingbacks Dumfries and Augusto.. Especially Augusto he was more than happy to run and hide from receiving the ball because he thought it’s Bastoni’s responsibilities to cross and push forward. For me I was more disappointed by Augusto because otherwise Fiorentina would’ve been playing a dangerous game with constant crosses with Dumfries joining in unlike Augusto he just can’t effectively join in the attack and keeps doing the same thing match after match just running when he passes like a headless chicken. The moment Basto was out then there was no hope and DImarco was tightly marked because Fiorentina knew he was the only one who can cross forward at will. Augusto is very overrated player but he’s mediocre at best and hopefully Zalewski will do better and finally only see Augusto in defending only
