Yann Sommer is reportedly at risk of losing his starting berth at Inter Milan to Josep Martinez after an awful performance against Juventus.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInterNews, Cristian Chivu considers benching the Swiss veteran after Saturday’s game.
Despite his superb form in the last two seasons, Yann Sommer is well past his prime.
Indeed, the 36-year-old was among the main culprits for Inter’s heart-wrenching 4-3 defeat in last weekend’s Derby d’Italia.
Yann Sommer to Lose Starting Berth to Josep Martinez After Inter Milan Loss vs Juventus

Sommer’s terrible night in Turin led to Inter’s second consecutive defeat at the start of the new Serie A season.
Furthermore, the former Bayern Munich goalkeeper failed to make a single save.
Indeed, each of Juventus’ four shots on target finished behind his back, including Vasilije Adzic’s late winner.
Though the youngster unleashed a rocket from long range, Sommer could and should have done better.
Therefore, Cristian Chivu is ready to remove him from goal.
Josep Martinez, who joined Inter from Genoa last summer, is ready to step in and stake his claim for the No.1 spot.
Sommer should be benched. From the little of what I have seen of Martinez he looked like a decent keeper. Good with his feet and he’s 27. He has almost 10 cm height advantage over Sommer means longer reach.
PLS NO THURAM ANYMORE!
Sommer performed like an amateur. I never expected him to be so bad.
I have the impression that other teams are learning to score against us with long shots from a distance.

I would love to see something like this, which is what I was expecting when Chivu took over…. Unfortunately, I’m not holding my breath…. starting to wonder whether Chivu will be brave enough to try something different….
3-5-2 doesn’t work anymore, for that formation everyone has to work, run like hell. Have to say Inzaghi perfected that formation, if only he got a couple of better players, i’m positive there would be a couple more trophies.
Chivu must change something. For Thuram’s play i’ve said months ago that he plays with nonchalance, extra move when it’s not needed. He doesn’t have that killer instinct in front of a goal, simply isn’t a player who can guarantee you 20+ goals in a season. That’s why i thought that it would have been better if he was sold this summer for 60, 70 mil and David brought as substitute for free (+ agent fees and money for signing, wage would have been the same as Marcus have).
After the Juve game, I never want to see Thuram in an Inter shirt again!! Unfortunately, I think his behaviour will be completely ignored, as if nothing happened….
same here. I think inter bosses, especially Zanetti is not happy with that attitude and soon thuram will be kicked out
well, you have my vote to be caretaker in the event that Chivu is gone.
I appreciate the support. So i’m good to throw my name in the hat 😀
I desperately want Chivu to succeed, but I think his starting 11 for the Ajax match will show us how long he will last… He has to be strong, and make the changes needed to take this club forward! These are mainly Inzaghis players- Chivu Owes them nothing, and by playing the same old, tired starting 11, he is gonna get himself sacked sooner rather than later! Sommer, Acerbi, Darmian, Miki… these guys have to be benched for good- they are simply too old to carry on!! J. Martinez simply has to start against Ajax, Sucic has to come back into the team, and then Chivu needs to find a way to get the best out of Diouf, Henrique, Frattesi, Pio and Bonny…. If it was up to me, Thuram would be watching from the stands after his giggle fits as we lost to Juve….
Use him instead of Sommer..
Try different formation such as 4321 or 4312 since we don’t have RM & LM..I don’t know what positon was Luis Henrique during his time in Marseille, if he was a winger then don’t use him as WB..
herique play as a Lm at marsiel
