A narrow victory for Inter against Cesena at Manuzzi, Thohir who watched the game from Jakarta said a few words during the game that Republika snatched up:
“At the moment our only target is to finish in top four. However there is a possibility that we change our objective, it’s not impossible to qualify for Champions League.”
But there is also another way for the Nerazzurri to qualify to Champions League by winning Europa League.
“Both opportunities is possible for us. We remain optimistic that Inter will reach this goal”.

You people fail to realize that every January that Mazzarri coaches a team they choke…..they choked this month by collecting 4 points in 4 games……are you going to wait for another poor string of games in January ??? if you support him and Inter flops in January then you are part of the problem…….if you agree with me that they will choke again in January then you fire him now and try to save the season. If I was Thohir I would instruct Mazzarri to change tactics and go to a 4-2-3-1 but that’s alot of extra work for Mazzarri, he wants to earn an easy 3.3 mill a season and not work hard for it.
I usually agree with most things Thohir says but this was just idiotic. We’re 8 games, not even a quarter into the season and he’s claiming it’s IMPOSSIBLE to finish in the top 4??? The team is currently four points back of 4th place, we all know they haven’t been playing up to expectations but statements like this don’t help the club at all. All they do is put everyone into crisis mode and make the situation seem a lot worse than it is.
Well man, I don’t know if the article was mistranslated or something, but what I read above is that E.T. thinks that a realistic target is to finish in the top four, with the possibility of classifying to the CL. Now, in my opinion 4th spot is too optimistic.
4th spot too optimistic??? This is Inter, not Catania. It doesn’t matter if our squad is not as strong as it used to be, on paper we still have a top 4 squad in Serie A. Not only is a top 4 finish possible, but it should be the EXPECTATION. Fans crying about the club not being able to finish in the top 4 show how short sighted they are, and can’t see past the most recent result.
I think we should be happy if we managed to qualify for Liga Europa again, considering in what state the club is.
I know there is a lot of passion and emotions involved when we talk about our Inter. But please use your brain. It would NOT be wise to sack WM at this point and getting a new coach mid season. There is a couple of reasons for this: First there is the argument, that a new coach would have great difficulty to just come in and implement his tactics, which would loose us some games in transistioning to them. That may not be a problem if we could get a world class coach which would win more in the long run, which brings us to the secound reason: Who would you bring in? There is not worldclass coach available who we could attract both financially and club wise with the situation we are in.
Bring in Mancini, he’s actually WON titles. All Mazzarri ever won was a Coppa Italia and a Serie A runners-up medal. Mancini is not the greatest manager in the world, but he’s won league titles with two clubs.
Because we have the money to buy out WM of his contract and get Mancini? I doubt it. Also im not sure Mancini would like to come back to “this” inter. He have always only wanted to work in clubs with some financial power which inter currently does not have.
Are you kidding? Mancini WANTS to come back, that’s why he’s been making so many comments lately. There have already been talks between him and the club. It’s time to make things official.
Mancini only won because everyone else in Serie A was KO; Juve in Serie B, Milan and the rest with a shit-load of points redused – my grand mother could have won the titles with the money Moratti spend back then and the all the rest knocked out by Calsiopoli! And in England, despite all the Olie money in the world he only won one title with Shity! And In Turkey, with Galatas, he only ended up 2., so a world class coach? No way! And a coach who would bring us anything new; No Way! He plays dull and boring football – I still remenber his 4-3-1-2 system with us ZZZZZZZ!
No bring in a Dutchman! Look at what Ronald Koeman is doing with Southamton! We should go after Frank de Boer or even Frank Rajkaard who’s free to join us!
noooo… Mancini won the tittle with quality he brings into our team. Did you watched inter under Mancini carefully, dude?
Mancini´s overrated and sucks in Europe – he did back then with us and he still does (just look at his results with Shity in the CL and with Gala).
Back then he won the league because of Zlatans brilliants NOT because Mancio was a great coach! Again and again Ibra was the man who stod up and saved the day!
Mancini played with 3 defensive midfielders in his team; Zanetti, Vieira and Cambio plus with Stanko infront of them, and the wing play was done by Maicon and CHIVU (!!!) on the left. He players extremly boring football and he is not what we need at the moment!
No…. Ibra was known as a big game flop. He only shed that title after moving to PSG, even in Barcelona he was known for disappearing in the big games. Look up Ibra’s stats from 2006 to 2008, and see that almost half of his goals came from penalties. You don’t know what you’re talking about, did you even watch Inter back then??
A big-game flop he was and so was Mancini! Every big game (or so) he lost, especially in Europe! Zlatan saved us against smaller teams where we were struggling to break through… Frank de Boer has won everything as a player and in Holland – Mancini has only won with “olie-money” in the bank!
And yes, my young friend I did follow Inter back then and yes I noticed that Mancio did nothing new compared to Hector Cuper – he was only lucky that the Calsiopoli came and saved his ass and gave Mancio the 1. title!
Mancini HAS trophies. One title? You clearly didn’t watch Inter, he has two titles he won on the pitch, and a title with City.
You say he only won with oil money? Then why didn’t Mark Hughes or Sven-Goran Eriksson win anything with that same oil money with City?
You say Mancini did nothing different than Cuper? He WON, twice. You can try to shit on Mancini all you want but his resume speaks for itself, and he clearly has a much better CV than any of the guys you listed.
He’s overrated my friend and has never done anything out of the ordinary with City or Inter!
My point is that Mancini arrived at a point where there wasn’t any competition in Serie A; Inter was the WAY strongest team in Italy, whereas Juve were KO because of Calciopoli and Milan in a state of chock – so winning the League was really too easy!
I mean we won 17(!!!) games in a row, 17!!!! That was also the reason for Moratti fired Mancini DESPITE just having won the league again; Serie A was to expected, Europe was what counted, but Mancini sucked in Europe (remember him whining after the Liverpool defeat??? Or didn’t you follow Inter back then 😉 ).
He has been critizes everywhere (Italy, England and in Turkey) for playing boring tactics and lacking balls – remindes you of a certain Mazzarri??
I hope Mazzarri (whom I’m not a fan of) wins the next few games and brings my beloved Inter (which I have support since ’88 BTW, my young friend), back to 3th – because that’s what counts at the moment. And then managers like Moyes and Mancini should stay the H+++ away from our games and not create any trubel by showing up!
Getting Mancini would not get us anything new but only take us backwards, brining in one of Frank de Boer or Ronald Koman would bring us forward!
No, you have the facts all wrong… First, we won 17 consecutive games in the 06-07 season, Mancini wasn’t fired until the END of the 2009 season. And the ONLY reason he was fired was because Mourinho was available, so get your facts straight. Yuo say you supported Inter since 88, well it’s cool that you can support the team without actually watching them play, since your memory is loaded with historic inaccuracies.
You wanna talk about overrated? Name ONE manager you listed who has the same credentials as Mancini. You’re treating these guys as if they’ve won something, THAT is the definition of overrated. Only Riijkaard won and that was because he had a prime Ronaldinho and Arsenal chocked in the 06 CL final.
Mancini has an overall winning % of 56.16, higher than Riijkaard’s 51%. De Boer has a higher winning % than Mancini, but that’s because he’s only managed one club in a lesser league, and when you compare De Boer’s winning % in Europe to Mancini’s it doesn’t even compare. De Boer’s Ajax have only won 28.57% of the games they’ve played in Europe. And THAT’S the guy that’s supposedly the saviour in your eyes???
Like I said before, what have the coaches that you’ve mentioned actually accomplished. Don’t bring up Mancini and how he’s overrated, that’s not the question. The question is what makes the guys you listed so great, because they’re just above average managers, with very little hardware between the lot of them.
We need a coach who knows how to BUILD – the winning will come – the Dutchmen I mentioned ALL knows how to build and how to play youngsters in the right way (Rijkaard build the Barca team we know today) and Frank de Boer is brilliant in norsing talent at Ajax! And THAT*S what we need today, with Thohir’s idea of buying youngsters and not world class players.
The winning % counts for nothing really – it all depends on the team and players available!
But what the coaches stand for is what counts! And as I said, we need someone who knows how to develop youngsters!
Mancini is not a developer of talent but a coach who buys his way to the top! Frank de Boer knows how to buy cheap to get to the top! PLUS he players in a more exciting way that the dull Mancini!
No, Inter decimated the competition in 06-07, even if none of the teams had points reductions, Inter still would’ve been something like 8 points ahead of the 2nd place team. And Mancini won again the next season after Juventus returned and all points were even again. And he also won the FA Cup with City as well.
You’re arguing about how he sucks, but he’s WON titles. He’s better than all of the managers you’ve listed. Only Rijkaard is comparable to Mancini out of that list, and I’d still take Mancini over him.
top 4 my ass, let alone the UCL spot.
it’s not just the coach, the squad itself wasn’t good enough.
I don’t think Milan or Fiorentina squads are better than Inter’s. The coach.. That is a different story.
well, fiorentina is better than us, they have better squad depth. and they have few players that can make difference only by himself such as cuadrado.
while milan, we’re on same level with them.
Dear sir, we can’t achieve that as long as the coach himself are brainless. Even top 5 sounds heaven to me with this brainless coach…
oh wow, he is delusional
You should have to think about the fuxk1ng stubborn WM. Hey Sempreinter.com, please tell ET to listen our disappoinment of this retarded coach. Replace him already ET!!!
