The news source “Sky” has speculated on the potential starting lineup that Roberto Mancini will field in tomorrow’s match vs. Empoli. Both Kovacic and Ranocchia missed out on the last match due to suspension; however, both have returned and were included in Mancini’s squad. According to the publication, Kovacic will likely take over for Hernanes in the trequartista role and start from the first minute. Furthermore, Ranocchia may lose his starting spot with Andreolli possibly getting the nod to play alongside Vidic in central defense.

While Guarin has his problems with finding consistency in his performances on the pitch, he has grown as a man and as a leader throughout the years. He almost makes me cry of frustration sometimes and personally I’m not his biggest fan. Still, he shows the true characteristics for what a captain should be at the moment. He acts like a man even though the fans have been boing him occasionally. Great character, great mental ability.
Ranocchia will remain as captain for the rest of the season and we’ll see how he can make progress. But when he’s not on the pitch I prefer Guaro having the armband.
Before we mention a name for the Inter captain, let us figure out, what are the criteria to be il capitano. According to the current club’s implicit fact.. the captain should be the longest player staying at the club right now. Rannochia the longest followed by Nagatomo, Juan Jesus, Guarin, Handanovic. The other requierement is the captain should be part of the first team. His contribution on the field should be important and perform consistently well. In my opinion, we should give the captaincy to Handanovic. Ranocchia should focus on his performance solely. It will cost us his loyalty. (He may think twice to extend his stay at inter). But we cannot afford to have different captains every week due to disciplinary and injury reasons. The captaincy should be given to someone who always play every week because he is reliable in his postion. The team know that he is accountable. Rannocchia has been inconsistent so far, the manager has been reluctant to drop him because he is the captain. That is a wrong reason not to drop him with other who play better. It is even greatful if Ranocchia himself pass the captaincy to the one who is more deserved. Inter cannot risk their 3rd place in serie A for a shaky defence. The fans will be more respect him for the sacrifice. The team is bigger than his personal pride. Therefore Handanovic will be my choice. He has saved Inter from losing more points. He still have 5-6 great years left to play in high level. I am sure we can get another Icardi, but I am not sure we can have a Handanovic within 10 years. A team can score 5 goals in match doesn’t mean they win the match. On the other hand, a team who doesn’t concede a single goal is absolutely not lose. A great defend win you a championship.

Changing captaincy at the moment is absurd, it’s not even worth being discussed. It will ruin the good atmospherr and harmony at the moment.. if andreolli play instead of Ranocchia, wouldnt it’s a good sign that Mancini put performance over player status.. andreolli or guarin also can act as a vice captain on the field. No problem with that.

Andreolli as a captain will push him up another level of quality and responbility and that can only bring good things for this squad, have a heart for Inter but i don’t know if he’s the leader type.. Guarin is deserved too he’s a leader type IMO but i think it’s good that Italian man become the captain

Over the summer when there was talk on this I considered Handanovic, Palacio, Hernanes. The test of time has shown Hernanes and Palacio can’t nail starting xi spots and shouldn’t be in the mix any more. Handanovic is the best option left…but his contract expires in 18 months and there’s rumours he’ll leave/we’ll sell him. Naming him captain in such circumstances may encourage him to stay but it may just destabilise the team.
Only 1 player I know deserves a starting spot pretty much week in week out. fans love him. He’s been here 2 years now and has a long term contract. He’s young but he’s already an inspiration to the team. Mancio trusts him and he holds a position Mancio can teach him how to dominate. he’s the man we want to build the team around. so we should just suck it up and build the team around him, starting by giving him the captaincy. Kovacic for captain.
kovacic is far from a captian.. jesus and guarin should come way in front of him. i don’t think inter got a worthy captain to be honest (andreolli was very good thought). a captain must have better influence and respect from the team and fans. inter got no player of this characteristics. handanovic come close but he’s not the outspoken or motivational type of guy. inter lack in this department.

I would assign Handanovic as the Captain.
He has been in the club for 3 years and he has always been consistent in his performances. Also he has Captaincy character.

I actually would not mind having andreolli captain.. he was at inter long before all these players(even though he left for a couple of years) and he was amongst players contending for the serie a title with mancini as coach back then. In addition to him being italian, the right age and probably more consistent than rano.
