According to reports from the “Daily Star” in the UK, Liverpool is currently trying to beat out Chelsea in their pursuit of Nerazzurri striker Mauro Icardi. Anfield Road will have competition from both Chelsea and Atletico Madrid but the paper indicates that Liverpool will approach the Inter leadership in the coming days. If the rumour was true.. then Inter should sell Icardi now. Based on Inter current form in the league, achieving 3rd place is highly difficult. I am an Interista, I would really hope Inter can qualify for champions league next season. 10 points gap from napoli are definitely a lot. It is possible but difficult. It would take a very cohesive and highly determined team to reach it. In addition, it would need the other teams above to perform badly. The fans should pray for 7 teams above to lose consistantly. If its 40 mil then why not? Maybe since there is competition from some of the bigger clubs in europe the price may be driven upwards even more. Although a lot of people are saying lets get a proven striker I dont think we should. We have two young prospects itching for playing time. Puskas and Bonozolli. I say we give them some serious time in the coming weeks while the negotiations for icardi are going on. If they play well ( which I think they will) then we continue utilizing them for games and reinvest our 40 mil into other things such as a dynamic mid or darmian a backup defensive mid for medel. Any money that is extra we can throw at Bayern for Shaquiri.

But, if the management really want to sell him to Liverpool, then it’s not a bad deal either, as long as Inter can get Coutinho + some cash (maybe around 25M~30M).

I highly doubt that Liverpool will give us 40 million for Icardi, but if they did we will invest them for players like Lucas Leiva (10 million), Mario Suarez (12-13 million), etc. And i see a lot of people complaining about Icardi, but he’s still 21 and is our goalscorer, what we have to say about others in the team? Where we will find adequate replacement for half of the money, to have sense to sell him? And what we will achieve, even if we’ve got Messi, when he will have to play with Ranocchia, Campagnaro, Obi, Kuzmanovic, etc.?
Not necessarily, as Icardi himself was bought for 12 mil, but still a very risky operation, and yes, I would also first get rid of all the excess players like Kuzmanovic and those similar to him who may have a patch of good form but will NEVER be good enough for a club that wants to play in the CL every year.
The most important thing is that in case we do sell him, we have a very good strategy about what we do with the money. If it’s spent on more players like him and Kovacic (who was also bought for 11 mil), or even Brozovic, then it’s no big deal because they’re all players with a shiny future ahead of them.

Ball dipped in the six yard area, and he should have connected.
