As soon as Icardi scored both of his goals against Palermo, many fans believed that the striker displayed his arrogance and ego once again.  But was it really an attitude problem?  The Argentine showed his fantastic eye for goal last weekend against Palermo, when he steered home Guarin’s cross after an excellent cross.  The 21 year old popped up once again and scored a net bulging header on 88 minutes.  Once again, there was controversy involving Mauro Icardi’s attitude when the striker did not celebrate on both occasions in which he hit the back of the net.  Last weekend seemed unusual for Inter fans, who were used to seeing Icardi celebrate by cupping his ear to the fans. The match against Palermo also saw a new face to Icardi’s personality.  After the feud between the Argentine and the Inter fans after the Sassuolo match, it seems as if Icardi has entered a new chapter.  Mauro Icardi put his head down, worked hard, and even scored two goals.  Perhaps the incident at the Mapei Stadium has made Icardi realize that he needs to be more down to earth.  Could this be a new beginning for Mauro Icardi?

Ever Since the Wanda Nara scandal, Mauro Icardi has become infamous “stealing” his former friend’s wife and children.  Another controversial incident involving the Argentine occurred during Inter’s game away against Sampdoria last season, in which Icardi cupped his ear in front of the Sampdoria faithful.  The striker then  disrespected the Curva Nord last week after the match against Sassuolo.  It all seemed lost.  Icardi seemed destined to leave.

However, Interisti who doubted Icardi’s future were told to think again after Inter’s match against Palermo. Against Palermo we saw a Mauro Icardi that worked hard.  He made numerous runs, congratulated his teammates, and scored goals. If Inter’s top striker can keep maturing on and off the pitch, then perhaps he will get to greater heights and even score more goals.  The birth of Francesca Icardi might also push Icardi to become a better role model for his daughter.

Mauro Icardi’s improving maturity could also be a factor if Inter decide to sell the Argentine.  There is no doubt that Icardi is one of the best young strikers in the world.  The Argentine has a long list of suitors including Manchester United and Chelsea.  The only reason why many big clubs have not make lucrative offers for Icardi is because of the striker’s maturity issues.  If more teams see Icardi as a mature footballer both on and off the pitch, then huge offers will start coming in.

Overall, maybe the incident after the match against Sassuolo had hidden benefits.  This could be the birth of a new humble, down to earth Icardi.  If Icardi can do what he did against Palermo all season, then he will finish as Serie A’s top goalscorer.
