Inter went to Wolfsburg Arena with the task to defend the honor and pride of this shirt. Wolfsburg’s players and coach had spoken as if Inter was a mediocre team and were happy to draw Mancini’s men and after the beginning it seemed like Inter were going to prove the German’s wrong. Palacio scored an early goal and Inter were playing well and then the horror show started.
From a corner Wolfsburg defender Naldo got the draw and Juan lost his marking whilst Carrizo could’ve done better in goal. This repeated itself and Carrizo had yet two more howlers in the second half which saw Inter lose the game with 3-1. Before that Mancini had subbed Vidic onto the field taking Hernanes of which gave Wolfsburg an advantage on the midfield and did I mention that Vidic was responsible for the free kick that De Bruyne scored from?
For the first time since Mancini came to Inter I am questioning his approach to a game. First of all why didn’t Handanovic start? I understand Carrizo did well against Celtic but Celtic are with all due respect not near Wolfsburg’s standard. This is a European cup game against a Bundesliga top team, the best players should be on the pitch and Wolfsburg were nowehere near being as good as we might’ve thought before the game. Ot was possible getting a better result than we got in the end.
Inter gifted the German’s three goals and Mancini’s coaching needs to be questioned. Inter wasted this opportunity to show the world that they are on their way back to the European top football and no words can describe how disappointed I am. The return leg will be very hard because Inter needs to expose themselves to attack and get goals.
I don’t know why but I still have hope to make it through. It’s something in our DNA that says Inter never gives up but after giving 90 minutes away I’m wondering if never giving up will be enough . We have put ourselves in a situation that might not be able to save and the only ones the players and the coach can blame are themselves.

i see his fear and he’s nervous he is professional player! and he plays for inter idk why mancio played him.
if we had handan we would won thats for sure 1. goal would hit handan in the chest 2. he woul kick fuc**** ball to the Mars 3. he would catch it and it would have finished 0:1 i hope mancio learned,he has much experience but this match showed not so much
I’ll disagree with you about that Juan couldn’t mark his man by Naldo goal. The problem with set pieces it’s very obvious and that’s since Mancini arrived. Because we use zone coverage, not personal or mixed personal with few players covering some areas (who’s the best in my opinion). And that’s why we have problems when we have to defend set pieces.
Inter defense used to zonal marking during Mazzari because of the back-3 formation. I think RM never realized this until now that the team plays on back 4. could have change to man marking instead. good point.
I was so angry when I read that Wolfsburg player mocked Inter as mediocre team.. When Palacio scored, I was so optimistic that this Wolfsburg players will regret their mocking against Inter, but then we showed them why many teams considering us as a joke..
And also, it’s really true that it was not even Wolfsburg best performance, even Dost didn’t play well, yet they could score 3 goals.. Damn..
Wolfsburg move forward as a team and they have leader in the central of the park. Inter on the other hand, were without one and when they move forward its just Icardi’s or Shaq with the rest still back tracking. Guarin has proven he is not good enough for Europe.
“Inter wasted this opportunity to show the world that they are on their way back to the European top football and no words can describe how disappointed I am.”
If I am not mistaken, Inter did not just have the opportunity to show the rest that we belong in European top football, but there is a CL-spot on the line for the winner of Europa League this season. So we can’t waste this golden possibility to reach the CL-spot with playing Carrizzo. Obviously sometimes it might be nice for Handanovic to get some rest but as goalkeepers rarely are as affected as the outfield players by fatigue Handanovic should play every game he is able to play…
100% agree
brilliant 1st half, horror 2nd half, in other day it can be the opposite. how about playing 90min+ with full concentration. I mean, when they negotiate their salary do they consider a real profesionall football player? ‘gimme 3 mio and you can see me playing good for 45min’ FUKK OFF!! these should be a gift for our 107 anni
I firmly believe if Handanovic starts that game we win 1-0.
carizzo hattrick
Isn’t enough
and I think something needs to be said about how much effort Guarin and Medel gave today. They were all over the field until the last whistle, it was fantastic to see!
What are you talking about? Guarin and Medel was absolutely clueless, they totally lost the center of the field against Luis Gustavo, Gilavogui and De Bruyne (who was tonight far away from his best shape, thathankfully), continuously losing the possession, failed to made the transition where were under pressure. And that aloud Wolfsburg to shoved us in our third and create so much goal scoring opportunities.
This constant praise for Medel’s headless chicken running around the place is ridiculous. He might hurry the ball carrier, but he leaves holes for other player to run in to, and he loses the ball with his poor touch more often than not, and usually in dangerous areas.
To play for Inter, you need more than endeavour, aggression and run. We virtually play a midfielder down in our forward plays. He never contributes on the ball. Rannochia and JJ provide more creativity in possession.
I said same thing after drawing… But, i believe you would said different if wolfsburg 2nd and 3rd didn’t happen.
