The 28 year old Bosnian has explained the reason behind his decision to join Sampdoria instead of Inter:

No, I am not insane.. When I said Medel, that’s mean there will be a replacement for him. I think Mancini prefers a DMF that have a different characteristic. If we refers to player such as Mario Suarez, Felipe Melo, or Lucas Leiva that have been link to move to Inter. I am not questioning Medel quality, but maybe the team needs different kind of player.

Regarding to CB and Santon. I heard that Italian team shoul consist at least 4 italian, and 4 players from young academy. If that is true. Then we should keep Santon. However, I think Santon only can be a decent backup or if the team decide to put the defend strategy. I did see the capabilities of Santon skills on attacking, nor during his previous adventure or during Newcastle time.
If I were the coach, I will sell Vidic, Rano, and Juan. Keep Andreoli as backup, promote other good CB from Primavera. I am gonna use Di Marco as back up for LB position and Santon as backup for Montoya (or we can rotate them). Sell Nagatomo, D’ambrossio, and bring a new capable LB. We gonna compete in only 2 competition anyway. Still, this is difficult in reality and easy to said, discuss it, or argue with it. 🙂
