Inter coach Roberto Mancini has been speaking to the assembled media in his pre match press conference ahead of Inter’s trip to face Sampdoria on Sunday (kick off 15:00 CET).
Here is what Mancini had to say about returning to his former club:
“I’ve been back to the Marassi lots of times as an opponent and it’s always a special game for me. I had some great times there. I’m happy to see Walter Zenga again too. We played together lots of times, both on the same team and on opposite sides. I’m glad he’s coaching in Italy again. Samp are a good team and they have three or four quality players up front who can win the game for you.”
Last Sunday’s defeat against Fiorentina:
“Result aside we played well in the first half. I don’t think the team has any sort of problem at the moment. It may even have been the best game we’ve played but you just have to accept the verdict of the pitch.”
“What does it leave us with? It leaves us without Miranda. It was just a game. We’ll lose and win others over the course of the season.”
Inter’s formation:
“Playing three or four at the back is not a problem, you don’t win or lose a game because of that. It’s always about the 11 players on the pitch. What makes the difference is a mistake by the coach or a player, or an opposition player scoring an amazing goal. Not the formation.”
Criticism after the team’s first defeat:
“There was criticism after our first five wins… I have my idea of football and I don’t let myself be influenced by outside factors, by criticism of our formation or who should or shouldn’t be playing.”
The Inter coach then confirmed…
“Juan Jesus is fine and so is Brozovic. He could play the full 90 minutes.”
Montenegro call up for the injured Stevan Jovetic:
“Nothing has happened and I’m not angry. I think it’s standard procedure to call up a player but as he’s not able to play I don’t think he will. If he were fit, he’d be with us tomorrow.”
“Jovetic is a smart boy. If his national team calls him, he has to go, but there’s no problem there. Ideally I’d like him to be able to train calmly over the next fortnight before the Juventus match.”
Finally, Geoffrey Kondogbia not being called up for international duty:
“France are playing friendly matches and it’s normal for a coach to try out different ideas and players. Kondogbia has always been a part of the France squad.”

Mancini should play Juan-Murillo-Rano-Santon in back 4. Basically it means 4 center backs and one wide player. If Mancini use 3 man defense, M&M&M does not work at all. They lack experience, height and solidity. 3 man defense only works if Mancini plays Murillo-Miranda-Ranocchia
I just hope he will not “Gasperini” his approach and force a 3 man defence on the team just to prove that his theory works.. I think he won’t, but still reading his comments scares the shit out of me…as Zoki said.. it is very naive of him just to say what he did

Yeah that is a head scratcher….I get that if it wasn’t for the individual errors making us go down by 2 goals so early on, we might of muscled our way to another 1-0 or at least 1-1…..but to say we played well!? and to go as far as saying ‘It may even have been the best game we’ve played ‘!? Definitely needs clarifying??

That is very naive. It definitely had a big part of last defeat vs Fiorentina. We were baked naked as far as tactics and strategy goes. We were on huge tilt in the first half, but the 3man defense definitely didn’t help, Santon had so much trouble playing as CB and Perišić as left back was pretty much what caused the second goal. I hope he doesn’t try some 3 at the back shit again.
Totally agree, it ‘s really dishonnest from Mancini to remove the blame from his really bad tactics. Sure, handanovic did 2 mistakes but we all saw how Santon performed as a CB , perisic as a full back and Palacio who could barely run !
So Mancini , pls cut the BS and assume your responsabilities!!
