If Inter could’ve asked to face Napoli at any time this season, tonight would’ve been the chosen night. Without prolific Gonzalo Higuain to count on for goals all that could’ve been better coming into the game was our league position/the gap separating us from where we long to be again. The early early exchanges were Napoli’s before Medel played an inch perfect ball – think Daley Blind to Robin Van Persie when the Netherlands tore the then reigning champs a new one in the World Cup – to Icardi, whose first touch was something of pure beauty and Ibra-esque before playing a controlled lob over an onrushing Reina. Napoli resumed their position of dominance as if nothing had happened while we looked a bit off the pace, we could however take solace in the fact that our defence was solid and marking assignments were kept to, to a tee.
We took a long while to get going which ultimately wouldn’t be acceptable on a normal day and given our chances of making the Champions League next season lessening by the game, even less acceptable. What was to come in the last 5/10 minutes was not what I expected to say the least, Inter dominance after countless Napoli attacks came to nothing. We got a semi decent chance through JoJo and then Perisic came close in quick succession before we got further breathing space with a cracking goal on the counter. Icardi turned provider playing it over a marooned Strinic and Brozovic ran on and coolly dinked it over Reina and into the far post to end the half strongly.
More free flowing football going forward started the half for both sides, with an exciting end to end game developing quickly. There was no mucking around when we came back out the tunnel, nor was the foot taken off the gas.
Icardi went for an audacious lob after Reina made a hash of a catch but Koulibaly just kept it out as it dipped down and looked bound to be 3-0 and game over for Napoli. Inter’s solid defence was near compromised when Nagatomo done a Nagatomo and sent a weak pass in Handanovic’s direction. Thankfully he was alert and just beat Callejon to it in what, had he got onto it, was a glaring opportunity for Napoli to get back into it.
Napoli lacked commitment and inspiration throughout the game despite dominating large spells, nothing was working for them while our team grew and put in a performance of very few faults. There were no individuals tonight for the nerazzurri, everyone worked for one another. From the back forward we were immense even when not in total control of proceedings and it was easily up there with our better performances of the season. We can still dream of Champions League being a reality next term with that result. We just need to continue playing like that in the remaining handful of games.
.

Jovetic is the one who went for the lob… Who proof reads these articles ??
“There were no individuals tonight for the nerazzurri, everyone worked for one another”, i think thats something we consistently lack throughout the season
I like the moment when miranda talk to perisic cause perisic tap the ball. Maybe hes worry cause he already knows that refere will always looking for our mistake.
“when Nagatomo done a Nagatomo” <<< lol

maybe in this game we can also say ” when RM done a DS ” 🙂
As a big brozovic doubter, I was impressed with him tonight. I feel he is best in a 3 man midfield where we don’t have to rely on him too much to do things, he’s got work rate and decent link up play, as well as an eye for goal which he always had. In a 2 man midfield he can’t cope. Hopefully we continue in this system
tonight he’s a right winger in 4231 formation..
It didn’t look like a 4231 because of the way he kept coming back and helping out medel and kondo whereas jovetic was given a sort of free role; he wasn’t strictly in the middle and was drifting from the flanks alot
my bad, i only watch the highlights, not the full match..
do you know any links for the full match maybe? heheh
Agree, and actually you could say the same thing about Kondogbia
He played as a winger that game..
You can’t say he was a winger as such, he covered the whole right flank yes but that’s what you’re supposed to do in that system, jovetic was a lot on the right in a free role
The whole starting 11 played superb..the tactical subs also brilliance. Well done RM.
looks like this forum gonna be quiet this week..
if we loose or draw or win 1-0, it’s must be already crowded in this forum..
but not this week.. XD
Well im kind of fans that will show up when we lose, but not to whining but to defend the team. 🙂
so, it’s not for you mate. 🙂
LOL.. hahaha.. some people just don’t know when to stop whining mate..XD
That’s bullshits and yout know that! I will have to repeat this hundred times, not everybody who have different opinion than yours is a hater. A few good games with Napoli, Roma, Juventus can’t save the season, because they are overshadowed of more games like Lazio, Carpi, Sassuolo, Torino, Fiorentina 4-1, Milan 3-0, Juventus 3-0 etc. and a lot of ugly 1-0 wins. The key word is consistency, we can beat Napoli and then lose at home against Torino. If you think that this is what we’re capable of, that’s your opinion. And the biggest problem is that if we can’t qualify for Champions league, because of FFP we will have to sacrifice some of the best players Icardi, Handanovic, Brozovic, Miranda and starting to build again. If you think that this is a success, that’s your opinion.
slow down mate, im not anybody nemesis and im not saying this game will erased our bad results.. 🙂
i’m just saying there is some people here that only show up only to bash the team, the head coach, the management or even the president..
it’s so irrational that sometimes they dont looked happy even when we make proggress by playing a good match or winning..
they just wanted their demand to change something (to sack our head coach) to be granted at all cost, even if it’s mean a disaster for our beloved team..
dont you think its irrational to sack our head coach with only 5 games left ? who’s gonna replace RM position for that 5 games ? are they even worth more than RM ?
me myself have a wish that DS or Mou come this summer, but im still celebrating and hoping the best result for us..
i dont want RM to be sack for the sake of it.. 🙂

” i dont bash Perisic because i want CR7 in his position”
i do understand your point of view regarding some of us (as inter fans) but you have to look 5 or 6 years back in our history, we were the “club” that every team across Europe wanted to beat, and the crisis has taken so much time that we may lose our faith our make some criticisms-
from 2010 up until now we did the same thing we did from 1998(first time i follow inter) – 2004..
we always change our head coach..from 1998-2004 we had 10 head coaches in only 6 years..
from 2010 – 2016 we had 7 head coaches in 6 years..
thanks to the new management we managed to stay with Mancini until now, the old one will surely have sack him..
we need to be consistent with our choices, we have choosen RM and tied him until 2017, so unless there is another Top head coach coming, just let RM do his work until 2017.. 🙂
