Cristian Ansaldi is an Inter player! There is no longer any doubt. The 29-year-old Argentine successfully passed his medical exams this afternoon and has since signed a 3-year deal with an option for an additional year. There are still some documents to be exchanged between Inter and Genoa, hence no official announcement as yet. This is just a formality however, and the former Zenit full back is Inter’s newest signing.

Given the limited budget because of FFP, we should be grateful for these two decent fullbacks. Let’s be positive that the remaining budgets will be allocated for Candreva – Yaya Toure/Biglia – Berrardi transfer plan.

Santon is leaving as well as Telles going back to Gala from his loan, Nagatomo renewed his contract so he won’t be leaving and JJ is CB but is also probably leaving

speaking of fullback, I really like how germany’s Kimmich, man his crosses were so acurate and dangerous. I mean, can we sign someone like him instead, or at least send our scout to find someone who has similar quality? I’m not really impressed with ansaldi or erkin at the moment, hope I’m wrong though..

He had a great season and Genoa and he can be good for us if he keeps form. But we need to freaking sell some fullbacks. I mean Ansaldi and Erkin are nice but lets be honest, you would most likely describe them as “meh”. So we have already added 2 more mediocre fullbacks to our ranks, next to Dodo, Santon, JJ, D’Ambrosio, Nagatomo etc etc I can’t even remember them all. I’d rather have 4 fullbacks, 2 really good and 2 backup than our current situation, which is like 8-10 mediocre, depth for 3 teams but noone good enough for the first team.
You are right but I think next year Ansaldi and Erkin are going to be our “really good” fullbacks and we’ll have Nagatomo+D’Ambrosio as backup. I can hardly imagine that we can buy any expensive FB. Ansaldi could be very cool if he keeps his form, but i’m really not impressed by Erkin (according to Euro 16 mainly)
Erkin has played mostly in Russian and Turkish league for a reason and he has been really poor with Turkey at Euro, like you said. His defensive capabilities are basically non existant. While he isn’t that bad, I think people overhype him. But maybe he proves me wrong, who knows. I expect Ansaldi to be better than him and possibly become our best fullback. Anyway, just imagine if we captured Vrsaljko. Now that is something, Ansaldi on left, Vrsaljko on right. Thats where you could say we upgraded our fullbacks.

No matter who we get upfront, Candreva or Berardi, no matter if Perisic looks like a world-class beast for Croatia right now, no matter if Icardi pulls off his best season yet, we Will have another year full of disappointment if we continue relying on the likes of Nagatomo, D’umbrosio and the like. I really hope Erkin and Ansaldi are upgrades, they seem good-ish. But we should have sold the useless trash and gone for Vsaljko or Darmian or Bruno Peres. Quality over quantity.
The sad thing is that Mancini might just prefer Nagatomo even if we get somebody like Vrsaljko or Peres. Just to fuck with us hehe.

But the Inter squad isn’t at the moment on a par with Juventus. That is a fact. You can blame the manager all you want but with the exception of 5/6 players, the rest did not perform. Referee bias and the lack of confidence created thereby had a lot to do with it to, but 3/4 of Inters squad last season were not good enough to wear the shirt or even to play in the top half of Seria A for that matter.
I agree with Mancio about last year, we weren’t on par. I’m saying is he’s known for having good players but not knowing how or where to use them or sticking with shitty players cause they have “better fitness”. Read the comment above me.

As much as I agree with you, Inter can’t buy those players this year because of FFP. Getting Banega for free was miracle and if we can get Candreva or Berardi and somewhat reinforce the fullback positions, it will be a great success. Then next year when the UEFA restirctions are off and hopefully Inter will have qualified for the UCL, they can use the chinese cash to make a solid team which can challenge for the scudetti and UCL. Inter finally has a clear transfer policy and a plan which we haven’t seen for many years under Moratti. That was the main reason we crushed after 2010

After Zanetti retired we’ve been suffering from a lack of adequate fullbacks. Not good fullbacks, Zanetti’s shoes are hard to fill, I’m saying adequate, as in able to do their job most days without constant reassessments of their abilities (or lack of such). I can’t recall a game last year in which I didn’t grind my teeth at Nagatomo or D’umbrosio’ crosses, or defending. or decision making, or positioning. Every game, someone passes them the ball and they end up losing it or passing it to the enemy. And in such way they heavily affected the attacks cause they were relied upon to feed Icardi with goal scoring opportunities, and they failed. In defense they were wrecked by any semi-skilled dribbler. That’s why for me it’s more important to start building the team from the FB position, cause Mancio relies a lot on them and what we’ve had so far is shit. What good is Candreva on the wing if Nagatomo still keeps crossing.
