According to Calciomercato, the first contact has taken place between Inter President Erick Thohir and new head coach Frank de Boer.
Thohir has just returned from Brazil where he has been meeting with some of the Indonesian athletes at the 2016 Olympics in Rio.
For Inter, the main situation at the moment revolves around Mauro Icardi. Inter want to tie him down to a new deal amid reported interest from Napoli, Chelsea and Arsenal, but his future still remains far from certain.
De Boer has already made it clear he wants him to be a driving force this season and the club will look at extending his current contract, even though it does not expire until 2019. A rise is likely on the €3.5 million he currently earns per year.
Suning intermediary Kia Joorabchian is heading to Lisbon for a meeting with Sporting about the future of Inter target Joao Mario, with the Nerazzurri reported to have tabled an offer worth around €50million.
Luiz Gustavo is the fresh name on the scene for Inter. It has already been reported that the Nerazzurri are preparing a bid believed to be worth €20million for the midfielder, however it may point to the fact that Inter are resigned to losing Marcelo Brozovic.
Brazilian striker Gabigol has been talked about for a long time too now, with the player subject of a bid of €25 million to his club Santos from Inter, but discussions are unlikely to commence during the tournament.
Lorenzo Insigne is considered an alternative to Gabigol, but his arrival from Napoli remains a long-shot, even with his agent’s games.

We need to Diawara, Saponara and two fullbacks.
If all this news are true then inter will buy:
j. Mario for 50 mill + L. Gustavo for 25 mill + gabigol for 20mill.. Amounting to 95 million… And this article mentions that money will be raised through brozovic only, which is BS to be honest. Only way inter are raising that kinda money or something close is through icardi sale.
IMO, inter will probably get gabigol and maybe gustavo given the fact thohir himself mentioned recently that he will probably get 1-2 players only.
From what I can gather some/all of these deals will be done with Inter formula so costs spread out over few years. Bear in mind for next year sunning will also renegotiate our deal with uefa for FFP, not forgetting the increased revenues sunning/thohir would of sorted by then, so perhaps all these deals maybe possible? Especially if brozo goes for 25/30mil which will help with cash flow (FFP) for this year? Anyway, that’s how it seems to me…
Probably, it sounds reasonable explaination to me.
You seem to have done your research, could you enlighten me with what the actual deal is with ffp as I was alway curious about it and if you have any info or prediction to what the renegotiations would include?
Well I’m definitely no expert on the matter and may have misinterpreted the info I’ve seen, but from what I’ve pieced together this is the gist of it…
FFP is basically to do with cash flow, ‘balancing your spending with your revenues’ (check out uefa website: http://www.uefa.com/community/news/newsid=2064391.html) so you can only spend what you generate as a club. This over a 3 season period and excludes all sorts of overheads though, like building infrastructure, developing youth, even fines from uefa. There seems to be plenty of leeway too with overspending and deals can be made with uefa to ease the restrictions, especially if you are a new owner inheriting a lot of debt. Basically, as long as the club has a plan in place showing how they intend to start breaking even, then barring a few fines and restrictions (squad size reduction), you’re free to manoeuvre in the transfer budget within reason. This is why Thohir keeps talking about a 5 year plan.
Now apparently if a change of ownership happens twice in 3 years then the 2nd new owners have to wait for the end of the 3 year period to renegotiate a new deal, which should coincide with next summers mercato for sunning. I really don’t know the full details but I’m presuming they’ll want to start a new 5 year plan maybe starting from next year? Also bear in mind Sunning have a huge amount of potential revenue streams for Inter within their infrastructure throughout Asia that should be yielding lots of cash for us to spend in the near future too.
TBH it’s all very ambiguous and the finer details are hard to find but this is what I can gather from the limited info available. The uefa site is probably the best place to visit, hope this helps!
Excellent review renato, you have at least clearly identified the idea behind new ownership and clubs capability in spending within a certain timeframe . Hopefully when I find the time, will do some further research on the matter and understand in details. However, thanks for at least presenting a baseline in how to tackle this topic.
No problem Mohamed and thank you. This is also a useful article http://www.uefa.org/protecting-the-game/club-licensing-and-financial-fair-play/news/newsid=2244685.html
This goes into a bit more detail about our current deal with uefa and a key point is that we’ve agreed to break even by 2018/2019 season. Whether sunning can renegotiate our deal with uefa or not, it still leaves plenty of time for them to establish the Inter brand in the Asian market which should generate a huge revenue stream. This is why thohir was so keen on sunning. Let’s hope FIGC sort out more favourable match times to appeal to this market too. We should definitely try to replicate the EPL’s scheduling and marketing towards this market as the pay off is huge!
Anyway, thanks again, if you can shed any more light on the matter please let me know….
Excellent article renato, it was just What I wanted, which is a basic summary of what inter deal with the ffp appears. Thanks alot for this and sorry for the late reply!!!
No worries Mohamed, you’re welcome! Forza Inter!!
Boring news,,, just please sign someone and hurry the gf_@k up,,,, iv listened to this shit all off season its so frustrating, ,, wow enough already why is it so hard to negotiate a deal with a player n sign him
Inter saved alot of money of the candreva deal, and that only happened becasue of pateince and the player’s will. We obviuosly cannot afford to just fork out money, but to get candreva, banega, erkin and ansaldi for total transfer fees of under 30 mil is great! We need to be smart in our dealings until the limitations are lifted by the FFP comittee. At this moment of growth and change, the club cannot afford to be in debt
What inter need desperatley is a centre back. I honestly dont see the need for the purchase of any player in another position unless one leaves. We have good enough players now, and alot of promising youth; whom im hopeful FDB can develop further.
One solid centre back, and our roaster is complete
