Former Inter defender Massimo Paganin gave his thoughts on Frank De Boer‘s competitive debut in the Inter dugout to TuttoMercatoWeb:
“De Boer has had little time to work. It was unthinkable that everything would be ok, but from a tactical point of view I struggle to understand the team’s approach. The change has led to a back 3 instead of 4-3-3, frankly, I do not understand it, his idea was different, I thought it was very strange. When you play against Chievo, you must have superiority on the wings, so why try to attack down the middle? Inter made it easier for Chievo, as the match would have been prepared in a whole different way.”
Is De Boer tactically immature for calcio?
“I do not know, it’s too early to tell. Italian football it’s all about tactics, you can’t concede a thing, against every Serie A coach just like against Maran’s Chievo. Italian football is based on details, if you for example never catch the opponents trequartista like Birsa for instance, he will score 2 goals against you and seal the match.”
“We say that things are not very clear, Mancini has left in fact a hole and you can not expect De Boer to wave the magic wand to solve everything. There will be work, it is too early to make considerations, but an important club must have its own identity tactic regardless of adversary.”

I find it’s quite strange that every coach coming to Inter seems a bit dizzy… everyone suddenly fell in love with 3 in defense…

Tactically FBD completely misjudge the approach of the game but no matter the approach there are players that he should never field in no matter if it’s a defence of 3, 4, 5. I hope he gets advice form staff cause everybody from inter knows it’s a big NO NO starting with those players at once.

it’s unfair to judge him now.. he barely know serie a.. it’s strange to see perisic on the bench and candreva that just coming back from injury starting for us.. let’s wait and see… we need to be patient with our new coach.. let him do his homework.. ^^

Maybe Medel had a clause in his contract to not play cb or something
but last season he played as cb when murillo/ miranda absent…^^.. LOL..
And then FBD gonna play Melo and learn it too. LOL
