Former Inter Milan manager Roberto Mancini spoke to the Italian press on how close he was to signing Yaya Toure from Manchester City whilst he was the manager of the Nerazzurri.
“Yaya was always one of my goals. We had almost sealed his purchase with President Erick Thohir a year ago, then he preferred not to betray Manchester City, where I took him.“, said the 52-year-old former Manchester City and Inter Milan manager.
“Toure, like Zlatan Ibrahimovic, is one of those players who can make the difference, who can change the outcome of a season by themselves like Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo.”, he said.

Mancini relies too much on individual brilliance, while football is a team sport.
Like De Boer said, a great player will win you a match but a trophy is won by the TEAM.
what was mancio’s % of yaya’s transfer ??
what a joke !
please Mancio stop being an ass hole and leave us alone !
Good grief. Enough with the Yaya posts already.
Loll, why did mancini always talk about yaya ? Doesnt he know we dont really care of him being his fanboy
Saw this interview somewhere else and he quite strongly indicates that he left because the club didn’t want to bring in (old) experienced world class players but wanted to focus on tomorrow’s stars of the game! He talkes about him wanted proven players who know how to change the game by them own, and he talkes about the club should have signed a free Ibra and Yaya to make them take the next strep… This all confirms the picture many of us have of him as being a great “manager” in the British sense, the one of buys in players and puts up the system, but a “coach” who actually knows how to teach his players anything and to develop them into better players he isn’t! Frank de Boer is!
and he said with yaya he would challenge rube for sure
For mancini, inter + yaya = world domination, lolll
he did… which I think is bull!
This guy has something wrong in his mind, making all the fuss in preseason for some washed up player who doesnt even get a place in city CL squad, i dont know but maybe yaya was his gay partner or something, lololll
Yes, Brozo had the key to Mancini´s locker room when he was our coach and it seems like Yaya used to have the keys to Mancio´s lockers when they were together in Manchester. Just like Mazzari handed Guarin the keys to his private locker room when he was in charged 😉
Well with zlatan and yaya we would have crushed everybody, jmario is ok but not on the same level, only reason yaya is benched is because pep hates him, just like at barca. Yaya is a rare combination of power and technique, the guy has a cannon on each foot and can hold the ball. Like zlatan we need attacking players that can shield the ball. Imagine we also signed kolarov, we would be a force to be afraid of.
Problem is Mancini also signed Eder who I don’t rate at all. Can anybody say Santiago solari? I miss the days we had competent strikers like Adriano, zlatan, milito, etoo, palacio, cassano, etc … Here’s t hoping Gabi barbosa can hit the ground running, the idea of a free flowing trident of perisic, candreva and Gabi barbosa is enticing!
On another note I’m not happy with iCardi, he proving to be a less smart version of inzaghi. The guy has no left foot, can’t dribble, has poor technique and can’t even shield the ball! He’s the classical opportunist stricker but needs dudes to play off. When perisic and candreva click he will get many scoring chances, hopefully he gets capocanoniere and we cash in on him for a pogba price. I’m tired of see that white trash wear that armband, unworthy oh and his horse faced whore of a wife is extremely irritating.
Yaya was diclining last season as well and didn´t play up to his former standards… Ibra is still a monster (singled handed toke Sweden to the Euros and scored like there was no tomorrow for PSG and in the CL) but still he´s not a player for the long run like Gabi or J.Mario… Inter wnats to build a super team that will top in 2-3 years time, but still with players in it with enough experience to take us to the top now (Perisic, Handa, Miranda, Banega, Candreva are exsamples of players with experience).
The Best Decision ever made by Inter was firing this Glorified coach. I know that inter fans are so desperate to see their team win that they would rather watch Inter playing boring assed Mancini soccer than watch them lose playing modern soccer but what can I say, Mancini sucks !
True… We didn’t play that bad agiNst Palermo but everyone talkes about the draw not the way we played…. Mancini played very boring and we were very lucky in many of last seasons games only reling in Handa and someone to pul a wondersrike on them own!
Thing is we won’t get far with camel boy kdog, he’s completely useless, also why is our team the only one that plays medel in midfield? Every other team that he played for used him in defense. Perhaps our best formation is a 3-4-1-2
Medel-Miranda-Murillo
Candreva-brozovic-jmario-perisic
Banega
ICardi-Eder
I kind of miss guarin and cassano! Cassano would be an amazing signing for free in January, somebody to take the strain off banega and play in the hole
Cassano is a totally unreliable player who has wash up his superb talent because of brain dead dissisions, no way I want him back! Guarin had like 1 good game pr month the rest he sucked! playing 3-4-1-2 could work deffently but Kondgobia is a much more complete player than Brozo if you ask me and Gabi should player next to Icardi when he´s ready of cause… the onlyt thing about 3-5-2 is that you´ll end up playing a lot through the middle and that won´t work against minnors who park the bus infront of they own goal – you need to use the flanks and that´s where the 4-3-3 is very useful!
agreed, 4-3-3 probably best against weaker teams and 3-4-2-1 for the big matches/Europa?
agreed on Gabi, I used to agree on Kdog/Brozo but after seeing how poor K-dog’s technique is…
I know INTER fanatics that hoped for INTER to win only for Mancini to be dismissed. He would probably be a great manager in EPL or a sporting director convincing players to come, but he’s not a top coach.
Mancini relies too much on individual brilliance, while football is a team sport. That`s why his fetish about Yaya and Ibra.
Like De Boer said, a great player will win you a match but a trophy is won by the TEAM.
i remember reading this already.. you just put different title for it.. LOL..
Lolll, maybe the writer wanted us to really remember how much mancini love yaya
There are all kind of so called journalists that write articles for this site, and some of them don’t even care reading OTHER`s news. It was the case again with Ronaldo`s statement on Barbosa.
