After Jeison Murillo was cleared of injury yesterday, Stefano Pioli can now afford to think more calmly about how to organise his side against Roma.
In the last three matches, Inter have played with a variable system. Pioli has opted for a 3-4-2-1 which has turned into a 4-2-3-1 in certain phases of play due to the movement of Antonio Candreva on the right and Danilo D’Ambrosio on the left.
Without Miranda, Pioli will have to decide whether to continue along these lines. D’Ambrosio could start in a back three alongside Murillo and Gary Medel. However, the coach could also choose to field a classic back four which would allow Yuto Nagatomo or Cristian Ansaldi to be deployed at left back. Albeit, D’Ambrosio could continue on the left flank of Pioli’s 3-4-2-1 which would then open the door for either Marco Andreolli or Trent Sainsbury to start in defence.

We have to play 4231 obviously with candreva and perisic tracking down the wingers and helping dambrosio and nagatomo ( not a fan but he is the best option against salah) def kondo and Gaglo in the middle since the complement each other better than with brozo and they are more solid and physical
you really think medel can jump as high as džeko ?!?!?
noooo way !

Please not dumbo in the back 3, that would be suicide.
3 at the back looks good on paper with MMM but in reality we are quite exposed. I’d rather play with 4 at the back, and Nagatomo playing to counter Salah’s speed.
i think we could use our little yogatomo against salah
True he has the speed to stop him – and has done it before, but still – he sucks in everything else and hasn’t played for a while now so gotta be rusty!
I would go for a 3 man at the back defense, with Murillo man marking Dzeko like he did with Mandzukic in Turin. Perisic has the speed, stamina and defensive awareness to play on the left wing back, and could keep Salah quite (I hope) and that could provide a spot for Banega to step into as an attacking mid next to Mario. Gagliardini and Kondogbia should play in the middle:
3-4-3: Handa.
Andreolli , Medel, Murillo
Candreva, Gagliar, Kondogbia, Perisic
Mario, Banega
Icardi
Pioli wont play mario and banega at the same time as you mentioned. At least not from the start. This is too attacking formation although we are playing at home and we have to score. We need to beat them in a middle and dont let salah to drive on that right flank. I am against nagatomo in 99% of matches but this is exactly the oponent where we should use his speed and then cover his mistakes with medel positioning
4231 or 442.. need to have double players covering the flanks.. perisic and nagatomo are required to turn off salah..
Cant leave that much space on the sides. I like the formation but not for this match
true, the 3-4-3 would leave us a bit open -still with Murillo and Andreolli drafting to the sides (murillo is quite fast remember) it might work…
