According to Brazilian outlet Lance! Santos do not intend to make an offer for Gabriel Barbosa for the time being but will not rule out a move to bring the 21-year-old back should he wish to return to Brazil.
The Brazilian forward struggled at Inter in his first season following a €30 million move and was loaned to Benfica for this term but he has encountered similar problems in the sense that he is being used very sparingly. Gabigol has had just 89 minutes of action across three appearances, one of which was a start where he was substituted just after an hour.
Lance! further reveal that prior to Gabigol completing the loan switch to the Portuguese outfit, there was in fact contact between the players representatives and Santos, who he scored 56 goals for in 154 appearances between 2013 and 2016.
