Inter have thanked former manager Helenio Herrera for his contributions to the club on the day the gardens in Piazza Auxum by the San Siro were renamed after him.

Herrera was the mastermind behind the Grande Inter side of the 1960’s that won all before them including back to back European Cups. Herrera served as manager for two spells, firstly between 1960 and 1968 and secondly between 1973 and 1974 – a spell that would have no doubt been longer had the Argentine not suffered a heart attack which lead to him leaving the game for a few years.
