Former Inter manager Gigi Simoni spoke on Inter’s exit from the Coppa Italia on Wednesday night in an interview with Itasportpress.it.

“The defeat in the Coppa Italia is a hard one to take. I have to admit that Milan had a better performance. There are some problems but I hope Luciano Spalletti gives an explanation because he is a very good coach.

“At the beginning of the season, the attack did very well, now there are very few goals scored, but it is too early to make judgements. Until a few weeks it was said that Inter was very strong while now, after three defeats, we speak differently.

“Icardi, Perisic and Candreva up to a few weeks ago had all been performing great as had the defence. I hope that Inter can overcome this period, initially it was thought that this team could compete with Juventus and Napoli , but in fact it is not so.”

Simoni concluded by speaking on Joao Mario who has failed to live up to expectations this season on more than one occasion.

“Joao Mario seems like another player compared to the one I liked so much at Euro 2016. I think he should be sold in order to buy someone else. I see him as fearful and he makes mistakes easy. Players go through bad moments, but sometimes it’s right to just change scenery too.”
