Stefan de Vrij has still yet to give Inter a response with regard to the pre-contract offer they made him Corriere dello Sport report.

While de Vrij has not responded, the Milan based newspaper report that Lazio president Claudio Lotito is now resigned to losing the Dutch central defender in the summer for nothing.

“It [a €3 million per season contract renewal] was not enough to convince the Dutchman to sign on,” Lotito told Corriere dello Sport.

“If the interest of Barcelona is real, there can not be a race. Lazio and Inter’s ambitions are now not so different but the salary he could be offered would be higher. In Milan he would earn upwards of €3 million per season.”

The 25-year-old former Feyenoord player has long been of interest to the Nerazzurri. This season he has made 23 appearances for the Stadio Olimpico club across all competitions, helping his side to six clean sheets.
