Inter are closing in on signing Rafinha from Barcelona on loan with an option to redeem according to a report from Milan based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The two clubs are coming close to reaching an agreement – with Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio currently in Spain for talks – over the redemption fee which should be around €30 million and include bonuses on top.

The 24-year-old has been keen on a switch to Inter from the offset and has knocked back an offer to return to Celta Vigo where he previously spent a season on loan. Upon signing, the Brazilian will slot in behind Nerazzurri captain Mauro Icardi in Luciano Spalletti’s 4-2-3-1 system as the trequartista.

In the unlikely event of the deal now collapsing, Inter have alternatives in mind just in case; Sevilla’s Joaquin Corea and Atletico Madrid’s Nicolas Gaitan. Recent reports have suggested that Inter midfielder Joao Mario could be included in a deal to land one of them if the situation was to arise.
