Former Inter striker, Nicola Ventola, spoke to TMW Radio about various topics concerning the Nerazzurri, such as the transfer market and their season up until now.
Is Pastore the right man for Spalletti’s midfield?
“They need a lot more quality to activate the wingers properly. Inter require someone better than Pastore, but I do not think he can be bought in the January market. He wouldn’t make an immediate impact and Inter can’t afford him right now. ”
Where can this Inter, with the right reinforcements, finish?
“They will fight for the Champions League with Lazio and Roma until the end. Just like Inter, Lazio lack a deep squad to make changes when it is necessary, quality in depth is lacking. Inter had to do better with their full backs, but with this squad, between highs and lows, these three teams will play for the top 4 spot. ”
Do you prefer Spalletti in his Roma or Inter version?
“His Roma team was more beautiful to watch, but above all it had a higher quality squad than he has at his disposal now. But Spalletti adapts to the players he has. Now, he works with good players, but none are world-class”.
its a good analysis by him. but as he said we can’t bring that kind player in the January transfer window. and Spalletti is doing a gr8 job with the players at his disposal. also I think it will be a race for the 3rd and 4th spot among Inter, Roma and Lazio. I was hoping that Dzeko will leave Roma and that would weaken their team to some extent. Hope Chelsea buys him.
We were offered Moura from PSG and we go instead from Pastore who has been a substitute for at least 5 years now or even more in PSG that plays in the league of France which is an outsider to the other 4 big leagues.
Moura is only 25 years old, we almost got him before he went to PSG. Generally I think Moura has a lot more to offer than Pastore.

Like i said before, as we got Raf for CAM, imo Pastore can’t add anything to the team, maybe a bit of expensive depth only.
He doesn’t shoot, doesn’t defend, doesn’t run into the challenges and duels, doesn’t have the speed and agility, not a great dribbler, just a lazy number 10 with some risky passes…
What we need is a versatile fast dribbling winger who can shoot, someone like Carrasco, Verdi, Lamela or a cheap Delofeu.
ventola is partially right. pastore isnt the player to make a difference as AMF anymore, BUT he can be a good as CM alongside vecino or gaglia in a more attacking approach. rafinha should be the one to lead the creativity from the middle as AMF.
I prefer other players in that role that are actually more regular. I don’t want a player coming because he is struggling for playing time and wants to make into the worldcup. Because that’s his true motive nothing else.
Also he hasn’t been that great in the last couple of seasons.
Raphinfa I’m not convinced by him he will have to prove me wrong.
He’s lazy and soft, not good as CM specially while we have the Italian Kuzmanovic named Gagliardini who always needs someone to cover his ass
gaglia was a beast last season with inter an especially with atalanta. while far away of being any near to the disgrace named kuz, he got it completely wrong this season.
about pastore, rather have lucas from PSG.
Both of them are overhyped
Gagliardini has not been that bad. I think he was aweful against Roma but our whole midfield of Vecino and Valero struggled against that class midfield of Roma. They had better midfielders than us in Naingolan, Strootman and Pellegrini. but in other matches Gagliardini has been decent, not exceptional but he did he good job as required by the team.
One of the reasons that most of us can’t see what Vecino does, is that he constantly runs back and covers Gaglia’s ass. In that win against Milan, I was focusing on Vecino, he literally played as two player, and we conceded from left by Suso, where Gaglia couldn’t figure out how to defend and how to cover.
It’s basic for a CM to know how to cover his fullback.
We can talk about this after we get CL qualification first

Di Mari/Ozil will be great but they are not coming.

What’s funny is that Eriksen was linked with Inter in 2014 but Mancini say NO.
De Boer ask for him when he was appointed 2016 but they didn’t listen.
What’s makes things worse is that in both cases he was affordable.

I’ll say that Lazio run in the lega will depend on how far they make it in the UEL, Ventola has a point they do have some defects in the squad depth. However Inzagi is doing a good job with the rotations.
I’m not the only one thinking that Lazio run in the league will depend on their on to how far they can make it in the UEL.
Of course it will – they are still in the Coppa (will face Milan) and in Europe where as we´re only in Serie A – but they have a squad that have played for years together in a system created for years ago (was it Reja or Pioli who created the 4-2-3-1 they play today?), and they have many well picked players in the squad (Lucas coming on a free last summer, Nani too and now the other day Canceres the defender came in on a free). They´re doing a superb job, but the directors and the coach!
Where as Roma are in a coahtic state with a very bad economy so in the long run (the next couple of years) they will not pose the same threat as Napoli, Juve and even Lazio will be…
The Difference between Roma and Inter is actually that Roma has better squad depth than us where I can say we 3 players, the rest are just average or below.
Is us to Inter to lose that top 4 I say that they should go for third place.
Both Roma an Lazio have to play in the UCL/UEL
I see Roma in the 1/4 finals with luck in the Semis look what happen in the Group stage no one was given a cent for them to finish ahead of Chelsea – At. Madrid.
I can see Lazio clinching Semi finals in the UEL.
What you say about their economy is true at some point. But I barely see Lazio keeping out the pace with Juventus/Napoli.
I can see us winning the league in 2 – 3 years.
I really want more another UCL with Spalletti it can happen but he needs a depth squad and at least 1 or 2 World Class players or at least I really good transfer with more talented player.
I give a list about wich players I want.
Lolito is not know for big spendings he buys cheap players that in the long run they turn to be good or World Class. That’s actually what I can give to him he has a good network of scouts working for him!!!
Roma is in very bad shape – they got a great squad for sure, but results have not been great actually ever since they made it through the group stage of the CL … And if a couple of players leaves in this window which kind of signal is that to the rest of the – already struggling – group of players
the only one that I know that is leaving is Dzeko, That will give Patrick more playing time also with the sell from Dzeko they should get a proper replacement.
But like you say their current performance is not good!!!
Roma are in talks with a Chinese for Niangolan, Palmeira – the left back – was also in talks with Chelsea about a transfer… They are a selling club and won’t last long in front of us, who don’t need to sell anymore
