Luka Modric is set to hold crunch talks with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez today amidst rumours that the midfielder wishes to leave the club to join Inter, according to Sport Mediaset.

Modric was thought to have returned to the Spanish capital ahead of pre-season training on Sunday after images circulated on social media of the player posing with a fan in front of a plane, but the TV channel have reported that the photograph was old and that the Croatian will only fly back to Madrid this afternoon.

Upon his arrival in the Spanish capital the 32 year-old will meet with club president Perez and is expected to confirm his desire to leave Los Blancos, thus opening the door for Inter to initiate talks with the European champions and pursue a deal to bring Modric to Italy.

The Nerazzurri would like to sign the World Cup runner-up on a loan deal worth €15 million with an option to buy for €30 million, but before making any moves officially they must wait for the outcome of today’s meeting between Modric and Perez.
