After a summer where his departure has been a certainty, it now seems that Manchester United could block the Serie A return of Napoli and Inter target Mattia Darmian.

According to Italian TV Channel Sky Sport Italia, the recent injury to Antonio Valencia could force Manchester United’s Portuguese manager José Mourinho to reconsider the future of Italian international full-back Matteo Darmian.

According to the report club captain Valencia is expected to return to full fitness before the start of the Premier League season but could hang on to the former Milan and Torino man as a precaution as well as a squad player to make up the numbers seeing as the transfer market for United has been a disappointment so far,

Darmian joined Manchester United in the summer of 2015 for a reported fee of £12.7 million and has since then featured 85 times across all competitions scoring only once but helping the Red Devils win an FA Cup, a EFL Cup, the community shield as well as the Europa League.
