Marco Branca, the former sporting director at Inter, was among the guests at the event dedicated to the Triplete winning Inter side and he recalled it in an interview with Tutto Mercato Web.

“It was a privilege and above all I am proud of having been a part of it. Even the following season we won the Club World Cup, the Italian Cup and we finished second. It was a beautiful cycle to which I am honoured to have participated in.”

Branca then spoke on the current team and how close they are to returning to such high levels.

“I do not know because I am not in the club no more. They have recovered after a poor start though.”

Branca then spoke on comparisons between Diego Milito and Lautaro Martinez, an important player from Inter’s past and one who should be important for the club in the future.

“No I don’t see any. Lautaro reminds me more of a fellow countryman in Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero. Instead Diego was a striker who scored goals and helped the team play.”

He also spoke on the comparison between Milito and current club captain Mauro Icardi.

“They are different. One is a great finisher, who is young and can improve his participation in the game. Diego had different qualities.”
