Atalanta’s youth scout Fermo ‘Mino’ Favini has spoken on some of the talents to come through the Bergamo club’s academy in recent years, including now Inter midfielder Roberto Gagliardini.

“I remember him well because his brother Andrea also in Atalanta’s academy too. Roberto has made it but at this moment I could say that he is among those who are suspended, in the sense that he has arrived at high levels, but now he has to take a further leap forward,” Favini said in an interview with Tuttosport.

Favini is regarded as one of the top youth scouts in Italy and he was thankful to be asked about it.

“I am glad someone remembers all the work put in, otherwise as the more time passes the more we tend to forget about it.”

Gagliardini enjoyed a quick rise to stardom. Just months after debuting for Atalanta in the 2016/17 season, he joined Inter in the January where he is under contract until the end of the 2020/21 season.
