Lautaro Martinez was on the pitch for Argentina in the game against Mexico for 57 minutes. The Inter forward played for nearly an hour and got close to scoring a goal with a header from close range that was saved by the Mexican goalkeeper. This is what El Toro had to say at the end of the game:
“We are working very hard and this helps increase the quality of the team and improve our individual performances as well. We mainly tried to keep the ball on the ground and keep possession, even if the pitch was not in the best condition. We scored to important goals that help us continue on to the next games with confidence.”
Just like at Inter, Lautaro and Icardi did not play together, instead they took turns as Lautaro started the game while Icardi was on the bench before Lautaro was substituted for Inter’s number nine.
