During an interview with RMC Sport, Dario Canovi spoke about the changes that have taken place in management in the footballing world, he discussed how clubs are differently run now as compared to in the past and the reasons for which people became presidents of football clubs. Here is what he had to say:

“In the past, so many presidents were fans. These presidents entered into the footballing world just due to their support. I’m talking about Vittorio Cecchi Gori with Fiorentina or Ernesto Pellegrini with Inter. Now we have presidents of medium and large sized clubs that are in it for financial reasons. James Pallotta, for example, did not come to Roma because he was a fan of the Giallorossi, he did it because he saw a business opportunity. The same goes for other clubs like Milan and Inter.”

Both Milan clubs have seen a recent change in ownership, and while we know that owners in general are in it for their own benefit, it is hard to argue that both clubs (or at least Inter) are definitely working towards growing and are looking better and more financially stable with every passing season.
