Joao Mario was interviewed after the draw between Italy and Portugal. The interview was mainly directed towards the positive spell he is currently having, especially with Inter.

“When you do not play for so many games, you learn something. I understood what I had to learn and now I’m trying to improve and do well here and with Inter. The coach has always trusted me and motivated me to train hard, and when he needed me to be ready, I was ready. You have to work hard and when you least expect it, the opportunity comes and you have to be ready for it.

“I knew that I had to improve something in my body language and I tried to do it in training. I think when you train and trust yourself, when the opportunity comes, you will be ready, and to do it with a great team like Inter helps even more.”

He concluded by speaking on where he thinks he is best suited on the pitch.

“I played in midfield at Inter and that could be my ideal position, but today I played right wing. The most important thing is to always have the right attitude. Maybe that’s where I went wrong in the past.”
