Matias Vecino was interviewed by the Nerazzurri for today’s Matchday Programme ahead of the clash against Bologna at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in Milano’s San Siro.

“It is a dream, a privilege, a unique opportunity. Putting on the Inter shirt on Sundays is an emotion that is difficult to describe. You wear your story, your tradition. You know you can not betray these extraordinary fans.”

“I remember the first time I arrived at the San Siro, it was my debut in Italy, Inter vs Fiorentina, and I immediately thought I was facing an imposing, unique, warm club.”

“Another strong emotion was my first professional goal, it was my debut with my team in Uruguay, Central Espanol.”

He then went on to discuss his first time at a stadium:

“My dad took me to see Liverpool. Not the English one, it was a club from my country. The match ended 0-0, but I felt something inside. I knew I wanted to become a footballer myself.”

“I left home at the age of 21 to come to Italy. I was lucky to be able to come here with my girlfriend, she helped me a lot in the most complicated moments.”

“I love Italian cuisine, the pasta is fantastic, but my favorite dish is the arancini. I know that they are a Sicilian specialty, but there was a guy from the staff who showed them to me. I don’t know how to cook them myself, but I can’t resist when they’re in front of me.”
