Former Inter director Walter Sabatini has spoken on the role – or rather lack of – that he played in Nicolo Zaniolo joined Inter and then moving on to Roma.

Zaniolo joined Inter in the Summer of 2017 from Serie B side Virtus Entella as a virtual unknown and went on to star for Inter’s Primavera during the 2017/18 season.

Last Summer he was dealt as part of a deal that brought Radja Nainggolan to the Nerazzurri and this season Zaniolo has surprised everyone and is being tipped for a future right at the top of the game.

“I did not discover him, nor did I help bring him to Roma,” he insisted in an interview with Tele Radio Stereo.

“I arrived at Inter when everything was already done for him to join Inter and that was thanks to Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio, just like Monchi deserves credit for taking him to Roma.”
