Udinese’s Argentinian winger Rodrigo De Paul, was interviewed by Rome based Corriere dello Sport, where he spoke about a wide range of issues, but in particular Inter’s interest in him.

“I’m having the best season of my career. I developed a lot and I’m not afraid to lead my team. I want to play every game as a protagonist.”

Do you feel ready for a big a club?

“I am fully focused on Udinese and my only thoughts are about winning to secure safety, but I do not deny hearing the talk about my future. I am ready to play football anywhere, so if teams really want me I will listen, but I don’t want to go into anymore detail because I respect Udinese. We will have this discussion in June. The club and my agent will deal with most of it but I have a great relationship with management so it won’t take very long to agree on something.”

Is it true that you almost moved to Inter in January?

“I wanted to stay here and although I read certain things, in my head it was clear that I wanted to stay until June. I gave my word because for me, leaving in January is like playing in a game and coming off at half time. It is not a nice feeling.”

What does it feel like to be admired by Inter?

“It’s nice because it’s confirmation that you’ve done well. I always work to improve”.

At Inter, Argentine’s have made history, do you like the idea of that?

“I have a great relationship with Milito, who is the Racing Club Technical Director and with Samuel who is the deputy coach of the national team. When Diego and Walter talk about Inter, their eyes sparkle. Listening to their stories is a pleasure. Milan is a beautiful city and I am proud of their interest”.”

Even being linked to Napoli, the club who had Maradona must also be an honour…

“My family is football crazy, I grew up on stories of Diego in that blue shirt. When we play at Sao Paolo I love the people. At the hotel they leave me  a special gift just because I am Argentinian like Maradona.”

Do you think you have found the right environment in Italy

“I feel good here and I like your football. It has helped me develop a lot. However, I don’t know where I will end up in the future, I am open to anything, but also staying in Italy.”

Finally, you have played attacking midfielder, winger and midfielder. Where do you feel most comfortable?

“I felt good as a midfielder in the last game because I like to have the ball as much as possible. There’s room for me to improve but I think I’m doing well. I also like playing in the flank, which is my usual role. Playing attacking midfield is a bit more difficult.”
