Inter could secure a deal to sign Edin Dzeko for €15 million plus bonuses this weekend, according to Il Messaggero.

Antonio Conte is short of centre-forwards at present and the Bosnian is the man identified to fill that vacancy as quickly as possible.

Beppe Marotta flew home from Asia to Italy on Friday and will make fresh contact with Roma in the next couple of days.

“It’s not at all in Roma’s interests to accelerate these negotiations, but it’s probable that talks reach a decisive phase this weekend,” the paper reported this morning.

The Giallorossi want €20 million for Dzeko and not the €11 million Inter have offered, despite the player being in the final year of his contract.

They are also without a replacement for now, because Gonzalo Higuain has refused to say ‘yes’ to them amid rumours he wants to stay at Juventus.

Marotta will cross paths with Roma’s management on Monday when Serie A’s fixture ceremony takes place in Milan, and this could be the right moment to close a deal.
