Inter could pay a total of €78 million to sign Romelu Lukaku from Manchester United, Corriere dello Sport confirmed tonight.

The Nerazzurri have been chasing the Belgian international since the start of the summer and today they finally agreed a deal.

United accepted an offer worth €65 million up front with €13 million in bonuses, leaving them €5 million short of the €83 million asking price they have reiterated for weeks.

The clubs need only exchange paperwork now before Lukaku can fly to Italy and put pen to paper on his new contract.

CdS did not clarify when the striker could arrive for his Inter medical but assured it would happen ‘soon’.

Earlier this evening, Gianluca Di Marzio suggested Lukaku could turn up for his tests as early as tomorrow, but this is not confirmed.

Juventus seemed destined to snatch the former Everton man away from Inter at the weekend, as they closed in on a swap deal with United involving Paulo Dybala.

However, Dybala rejected a move to Old Trafford and caused the clubs’ talks to fall through, before reportedly turning down Tottenham on Wednesday.
