Inter striker Lautaro Martinez, who scored a brace today against SPAL to give the Nerazzurri three points, discussed the 2-1 win in an interview with Italian broadcaster InterTV after the match.
“In the first half we played very well, with the defence high up and the two wide midfielders very high up the pitch. In the second half, we were too far deep. There was a mental and physical drop because we were a bit tired. But in the end, we had a good game. We won, and that’s what matters.”
The 22-year-old Argentine striker then spoke about the Nerazzurri’s rise to the top of the league table, following Juventus’ 2-2 draw against Sassuolo earlier today.
“We’re proud, because we are working for this. To win, to show on the pitch that we’re at the level Inter deserves. We need to work on closing the matches out, we need to sharpen the details.”
Finally, Lautaro touched on why he always seems to score in the first 30 minutes of a game.
“I don’t know why. I get the right ball and I make the right shot to score. We’re all trying to do good for Inter.”
