Gerard Pique is at risk of missing out on Barcelona’s upcoming Champions League match with Inter according to a report from Spanish news outlet lavanguardia.com.
The 32-year-old central defender sustained a knee injury during the Blaugrana’s 1-0 win over Atletico Madrid last night. His condition will be tested soon to determine the extent of the injury, which could also potentially rule him out for El Clasico, with Real Madrid in little over two weeks time.
Should Pique miss the match against Inter at San Siro, it will be sure to boost Antonio Conte’s side who need to win in order to guarantee progress past the group stage of the competition.
Pique’s fellow first-choice defenders Jordi Alba and Nelson Semedo are both currently out injured and Inter could well take full advantage of the fact that Barcelona’s defence will be far from full strength.
Inter are due to play host to Barcelona, who are already through as group winners, on December 10 with kick off scheduled for 21:00 CET.
