In an interview with Roman newspaper Corriere dello Sport, legendary Italian football manager Fabio Capello has spoken on the race for the Serie A title.

“It has been a different season to what we have gotten used to. It is still too early to say who will win the title,” he said.

“Roma and Lazio are both showing a lot of potential and we must keep an eye on them. Roma have had many injuries but I still consider them to be a team with great possibilities.

“The more they play the more they improve and I think they will prove to be very annoying to others. Lazio are not only up near the top because they beat Juventus but because they have won seven in a row.”

He then spoke on how Italian teams have fared in the Champions League this term.

“Last year it seemed as if only one English side would progress but both the final of the Champions League and Europa League were contested by English sides. The final games are a good test for the Italian teams. They are difficult and will be decided by personality. Let’s see how the Italian sides do.”
