Chinese real estate giants Evergrande are very interested in succeeding Pirelli as Inter’s main shirt sponsor according to a report in today’s print edition of Roman newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

Inter’s long-running deal with Pirelli is due to expire in a year and a half and it has long been rumoured that there will be no extension to this contract as Inter look to maximise revenue they can earn from their main shirt sponsorship.

The report suggests that further negotiations between Inter and Evergrande may well have taken place during Inter president Steven Zhang’s recent trip back to his native China.

This would not be the Evergrande Group’s first foray into football either with them also owning Chinese club Guangzhou, who are currently managed by former Inter defender Fabio Cannavaro.

Evergrande took over at Guangzhou back in February 2010 and have since turned the team into the highest valued team in China and helped them toward winning several honours.
