A bright first 6 minutes were followed by 40 minutes of the worst, slowest football Inter have played throughout this entire season.

Conte got into the players heads during halftime but it still needed the spark off the bench in the shape of Brozovic and Sanchez to light the fire. Lukaku got service and that means he usually scores goals.

Daniele Padelli – 6: Looked nervous and understandably so. One needless save but the defence did their best to keep the ball away. Only one shot on target all night.

Milan Skriniar – 6: Made captain in the absence of Handanovic, and did his part in defence. Thankfully Lasagna missed the chance that Skriniar gave away. A bit rusty.

Stefan de Vrij – 6: Classy as usual, Inter missed his passing ability in the first half. Raised his game in the second half. Brozovic coming on got him playing better.

Alessandro Bastoni –  : Much more involved than his 2 other center backs throughout. Confirmation that he is now a starter. Will be a big miss for the derby. Future.

Victor Moses – 6: Decent debut. For some reason the team didn’t find him in the first half. Still has the pace that can trouble opponents. Will get better with time.

Matias Vecino – 6: Typical Vecino quantity performance. No major mistakes, tried to get involved in the attack with a few 1-2’s. When they came off, Inter looked fluid.

Nicolo Barella – 6.5: Playing way beyond his years in the regista role. Udinese didn’t give a lot of space. Moved a little ahead when Brozo came on, got an assist too.

Christian Eriksen – 5.5: Started the game really well but then was constantly harried and hassled by the Udinese midfield. Will take a few games at least to adapt to the Serie A.

Ashley Young – 6: Great goal saving block. Defensively he can be relied upon, on either side. Maybe needs to show more quality in attack and shooting. Looks at home.

Sebastiano Esposito – 5: Understandably nervous and over-thinking his play a bit. Tried too hard and too much but nothing came off. Missed a sitter before he was subbed.

Romelu Lukaku – 7.5: Missing in the first half. The team couldn’t get the ball to him in the final third. Blew Udinese away in 8 minutes when he got the service he wanted.

Marcelo Brozovic – 7: Yes, Barella can do well in the regista role, Sensi has done it too in the past. But Brozovic is way more comfortable and his return is a massive plus.

Alexis Sanchez – 7: Maybe Alexis is still not 100% fit after the injury. Maybe he’s not the same player he once way, but his quality can’t be doubted. Game-changer.

Danilo D’Ambrosio – N/A: Another return that will please a lot of Inter fans. Tactically he can help see games out and maintain possession of the ball. No more injuries please.

Antonio Conte – 7: Took a risk with the lineup with all 3 snew ignings starting. When they didn’t work out, made the right subs at the right time to get 3 invaluable points.

Marco Di Bello – 3.5: All football fans want from referees is consistency. That is the only thing the Italian FA and referees fail to provide, week in and week out. Terrible.

Inter – 6: Great start, but then the attack fades out. Subs bring the impact and open and close the game within minutes. Not a great game but a great result.
