Former AC Milan striker Filippo Inzaghi has shared that he was expecting Antonio Conte to have had the effect that he has had on Inter.

Conte took charge of Inter during the Summer and has the team still competing on three fronts at this stage of the season.

Inter are sitting in second place in Serie A, just three points behind league leaders Juventus, they are in the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia and in the knockout stages of the Europa League too.

“Inter are doing very well with Antonio Conte, but I was sure this would be the case. I know Antonio and he is someone who gives a lot,” Inzaghi explained in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia on Friday night.

Inzaghi, who is currently in charge of Serie B side Benevento, then went on to speak about this Sunday night’s Derby della Madonnina between Inter and AC Milan.

Inter come into this game almost 20 points ahead of their city rivals and also have the bragging rights having won the derby played earlier on in the season 2-0.

“It is a beautiful derby, unfortunately we will play be playing at the same time so it will feel strange not being able to watch this match that I gave so much in as a player.

“It is an important game, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Romelu Lukaku are the most representative of the two teams but there are many good players in the teams.

“I hope it is a nice derby, if Milan win I will be happy.”
